Joan Velvet Week 2

I lost 1.3 lbs my 2nd week. That's 3 lbs in 2 weeks. I was hoping I'd lose more but I only have myself to blame. I haven't been counting points or watching what I eat. All I do is portion control. But today has been the worst. I had a brownie from the farmers market for breakfast and a big half chocolate icing, half white cream coconut donut for lunch. For dinner I just had a bowl of cinnamon shredded wheat cereal. I'm an emotional eater.

Highlights - Week 1

Joan Velvet highlights of Week 1:

1. Too many 100 calorie packs.
2. Mistook a mini bag of Buttery Salt & Cracked Pepper popcorn for 1 point, when actually really more like 5 points.
3. Have yet to buy and chew gum - will this week.
4. Didn't count points over the weekend - basically freeloaded on ribs, hummus, guac, wine, cake, on and on....but watched my portions this time! Would that be called "smart freeloading"?
5. Didn't hit the gym or exercise until the last 2 days of week one - but actually worked out to the point of disgusting stinky sopping wet t-shirt.
6. After all that, lost 1.4lbs at my end of week 1 weigh in!

7. Last but not least - thanks for all the comments! Was very surprised as I was expecting 1 the most!! And by the way, I know some of you have asked me whether I really need to lose the weight. Well for starters, I have really gained 20 lbs over the last 3 years and I guess I hide it well (all in the ass). I know I should be *happy* regardless but even though I'm not really FAT I know the difference I felt when I wasn't 20 lbs heavier. It's little things like, not huffing and puffing when I use the stairs, being able to comfortably cross my leg when sitting without it practically falling off because of the extra weight and actually being happy with what I see in the mirror. It's not just about looking good - but feeling good inside and feeling healthier in general! I dont want to be model thin - I just want to be healthy and fit again. :)

Joan Velvet not doing so great on Day 1

I'm struggling too - I couldnt believe that my very small bowl of fiber rich cereal and soy milk this morning was 4 points. Keep in mind that our target points a day is 20 (hence, the blog url, duh).

The hardest part is counting points. I spent 5 minutes this morning calculating my points and since breakfast I spent half my time sitting at Danielle's desk trying to figure out what in the world to eat for lunch and how many points all of our options were. I eventually settled on a sushi lunch - which ate up 6 of my points. That leaves me with 8 points for the rest of the day and it's only 1:45pm!

And by the way, I'm still hungry. I'll admit I'm one of those snackers. I always need to munch on something. The thought of not eating anything until dinner is depressing me. Feed me!!!

Why am I so hungry...

Why is it that when you start a diet, you are always hungrier and very aware of this hunger ALL DAY LONG. I ate breakfast, I had my 2 pt snack- yet my stomach feels like its being neglected.

Not gonna lie- the points counting sucks. But I guess it definetely makes you more aware of all the little things that you put in your mouth the make a big impact on your saddle bags....

Doesnt help that my roomate is kinda a bad influence. She can eat more than i can and doesnt gain weight nearly as quickly as I do. Maybe cause I am a foot shorter- that could be it :)

I think i just need to realize just b/c she is eating it, just because she can drink and eat more, doesnt give me an excuse to freeload.

To eat or not to eat...that is the question

Ok- so based on our first WW meeting today, all these women are talking about all this bad food that they eat on a daily basis. Like chips, and sour cream, and grande whole milk lattes and stuff. I DONT EVEN EAT THAT! Yet, my jeans continue to "shrink" around my bum and the muffin tops are oh so muffiny.

I think I actually know what I need to do to become a skinny bitch:
Stop eating out so much
Stop drinking booze
Start working out at least 5 days a week at a higher intensity than now

This is my overall goal- In addtition to the 14 pounds i need to lose by June. I'm convinced these 3 items are my downfall- and the occasional brownie, cupcake, or deep fried rice ball.

So best of luck to Joan and I in our attempts to make ourselves over. Hopefully we will be strutting our stuff on the beach without being mistaken for a beached orca whale.

Welcome

So Danielle and I started weight watchers and we want to look like those skinny bitches in the magazines. Ok, maybe not THAT skinny, but we want to be confident and look hot in our clothes and not cringe at the thought of wearing a bikini.

We started weight watchers today and we are motivating each other. This is our outlet to share our accomplishments and our defeats and to make fun of ourselves.

Watch out all you skinny bitches, here we come.
